Laptop thinks it is still connected to earphones, but the fact is there is no connected earphone. This is my case, for asus xj laptop. I didn't find the solution yet. And the audio level indicator is moving, but there's no sound.
Are the drivers updated yet? I thought I had thet latest drivers, but apparently not. I updated the audio drivers and the problem resolved itself. Glad it worked for you. Restarting Windows Audio Endpoint Builder and then enabling the speaker it had got disabled on restart, worked for me — Alex Punnen. Show 1 more comment. The issue seems to come off due to faulty Audio drivers. So roll back to the earlier drivers if the system worked perfectly before. If the issue still persists then focus on the drivers that the latest.

To that end, I have tried the following to fix the issue but have had no success: Did a factory reset of the laptop, restoring everything to manufacture defaults Awakened computer from sleep with and without headphones plugged in Downloaded and installed all available Windows updates Ran audio troublershooter--it did not identify any issues Went into services.
Gone into sound properties and set communication to none Disabled and re-enabled audio enhancements Disabled and re-enabled Realtek and associated WaveMaxx in start-up processes Changed sleep and power settings, disabling fast startup and enabling hibernate settings I have spent a good part of my day crawling through online guides and forums trying to resolve this issue and have found nothing that gives a permanent fix.

In reply to A. User's post on April 22, I did as you advised and installed the audio driver from that link; however, there is still no sound after the pc awakes from sleep mode.
Thanks for trying my suggestions, that's all I can suggest for now. I'll leave this question to our fellow Windows 10 user in this forum. I'm pretty sure they better ideas to resolve this for you. Same issue. No sound after sleep. Have already tried everything on your list with no success.
I will do a full OS reinstall at a later date and see if that works. In reply to blobfhhfhfggfd's post on July 9, I managed to solve the issue and fix the problem. I did as A User suggested and uninstalled the current driver, then installed an older driver. At some point after that, i went in the sound properties menu and updated to the most current driver.
